30 Ways to Become a Better Muslim Woman (Guided by the Teachings of the Prophet ﷺ and His Noble Family)

Introduction

Every Muslim woman carries within her the light of faith — a strength that shapes families, communities, and generations. To become a better Muslim woman means to deepen one’s connection with Allah ﷻ, embody the morals taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and follow the path of his blessed household (Ahl al-Bayt عليهم السلام).

The Qur’an reminds us:

وَمَن يُسْلِمْ وَجْهَهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى
“Whoever submits himself to Allah while doing good has grasped the firmest handhold.” (Qur’an 31:22)

Below are 30 practical and spiritual ways to grow closer to Allah, improve your daily life, and strengthen your character as a believing woman.

1. Begin Every Day With the Name of Allah

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Every important matter not begun with the name of Allah is cut off (from blessings).” (Hadith)

Start your morning with Bismillah and a short du‘ā for success and safety.

2. Keep a Strong Connection With the Qur’an

Recite even a few verses daily. Imam ʿAli عليه السلام described the Qur’an as:

كِتَابُ اللَّهِ فِيهِ نُورُ الْحِكْمَةِ وَمِصْبَاحُ الْعِلْمِ
“The Book of Allah contains the light of wisdom and the lamp of knowledge.” (Attributed in Nahj al-Balāghah)

Reading and reflecting on the Qur’an purifies the heart and strengthens conviction.

3. Pray on Time

Prayer is the heartbeat of faith. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The first thing for which a person will be judged on the Day of Resurrection will be the prayer.”

Guard your five daily prayers and perform them with focus and calm.

4. Dress With Modesty and Dignity

Modesty (ḥayāʾ) is a crown of faith. Allah ﷻ commands:

“Tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their chastity.” (Qur’an 24:31)

Modesty protects inner beauty and earns respect before Allah and people.

5. Seek Knowledge Continually

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.”

Study the Qur’an, the sayings of the Prophet ﷺ, and authentic teachings about worship, family life, and manners.

6. Show Gratitude to Allah

Imam ʿAli عليه السلام said:

“Gratitude is the adornment of blessings and the weapon of the believer.”

Thank Allah daily for life, health, family, and faith. Gratitude invites more blessings.

7. Perfect Your Manners

Good character (akhlaq) is the essence of religion. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The best among you are those who are best in character.”

Politeness, patience, and kindness define a true believer.

8. Guard the Tongue

The tongue can build or break hearts. The Prophet ﷺ warned:

“A person may utter a word pleasing to Allah, and Allah raises him by it; or a word displeasing to Allah, and he is cast into Hell for it.”

Speak truth and avoid gossip or harsh words.

9. Strengthen Your Relationship With Family

Respect parents, be kind to siblings, and nurture children with mercy. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The best of you is the one who is best to his family.”

A Muslim woman’s warmth and wisdom make her home a garden of peace.

10. Remember Allah in Every Situation

Imam Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq عليه السلام said:

اذْكُرِ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ
“Remember Allah in every condition.” (Al-Kāfī)

Dhikr brings serenity and prevents sins.

11. Maintain Humility

Pride distances one from Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“No one with even an atom’s weight of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.”

True beauty lies in humility and compassion.

12. Practice Patience (Ṣabr)

Patience is the key to success. The Qur’an says:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ
“Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” (2:153)

Imam ʿAli عليه السلام called patience “the head of faith.”

13. Give Charity Regularly

Charity purifies wealth. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Charity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire.”

Even a smile or helping hand counts as charity.

14. Support Other Women With Kindness

Lift others through compassion. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“A believer is the mirror of another believer.”

Encourage, comfort, and guide your sisters in faith.

15. Guard the Eyes and Ears

Avoid what corrupts the heart. The Qur’an teaches:

إِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُولَٰئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْئُولًا
“Indeed, the hearing, the sight, and the heart — all of those will be questioned.” (17:36)

Purity of senses leads to purity of soul.

16. Keep Promises

Breaking a promise weakens trust. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“There is no faith for one who cannot be trusted.”

Be reliable in words and actions.

17. Balance Worship and Family Life

“Give every part of your life its due share — worship and livelihood.” (Tuhaf al-ʿUqul)

Islam calls for balance, not neglect of worldly duties.

18. Eat Halal and in Moderation

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The human being fills no vessel worse than his stomach.”

Choose halal food, eat moderately, and thank Allah for every meal.

19. Keep Good Company

Imam ʿAli عليه السلام said:

“The company of the righteous brings goodness.”

Friends influence faith; stay close to those who remind you of Allah.

20. Control Anger

The Prophet ﷺ taught:

“The strong person is not the one who overcomes others by force, but the one who controls himself when angry.”

Respond to anger with silence and prayer.

21. Be Honest in Every Matter

Honesty builds spiritual strength. Imam ʿAli عليه السلام said:

“Truthfulness is the key to faith.” (Ghurar al-Ḥikam)

22. Serve the Needy

Help neighbors and the poor. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while his neighbor goes hungry.”

Service to others strengthens one’s bond with Allah.

23. Make Du‘ā Often

The Qur’an says:

ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
“Call upon Me; I will respond to you.” (40:60)

Supplication connects the heart directly to the Creator.

24. Avoid Envy

“Envy consumes faith as fire consumes wood.” (Nahj al-Balāghah)

Be content with what Allah has decreed.

25. Forgive Others

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Show mercy to those on earth, and the One above the heavens will show mercy to you.”

Forgiveness brings peace to the soul.

26. Keep Hope in Allah’s Mercy

Never despair. Allah ﷻ promises:

“Do not despair of Allah’s mercy.” (39:53)

Every hardship carries hidden wisdom.

27. Remember Death and the Hereafter

Imam ʿAli عليه السلام said:

“Whoever remembers death is content with little from this world.”

Reflection on the Hereafter purifies intentions.

28. Spread Peace and Salaam

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Spread peace among yourselves.”

A simple “As-salāmu ʿalaykum” builds unity and love.

29. Be a Source of Positivity

Faith should make you radiant. Imam ʿAli عليه السلام said:

“The believer is cheerful in face though sorrowful in heart.” (Ghurar al-Ḥikam)

Kindness and optimism attract hearts to Islam.

30. Strive for Continuous Self-Improvement

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“He whose two days are equal in progress has lost.”

Every day is a new opportunity to grow spiritually and morally.

Conclusion

Becoming a better Muslim woman is a lifelong journey — one of love, sincerity, patience, and devotion. Through prayer, knowledge, compassion, and remembrance of Allah, a woman finds strength and peace beyond measure.

As Imam ʿAli عليه السلام said:

مَنْ أَصْلَحَ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ اللَّهِ أَصْلَحَ اللَّهُ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ النَّاسِ
“Whoever rectifies what is between herself and Allah, Allah will rectify what is between her and people.” (Nahj al-Balāghah)

May Allah guide every believing woman toward the light of piety, knowledge, and tranquility.
